US diplomat was warned over his recent statements

US Ambassador to Turkey Francis Ricciardone left Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs evening after completing his talks with Turkish officials.

Ankara- According to information received from diplomatic sources, the top US diplomat in the Turkish capital was warned over his recent statements about the pace of Turkish judiciary.
It was added that topics focused on combating terrorism were discussed mainly during the two-hour long meeting between Ricciardone and the Undersecretary of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Feridun Sinirlioglu.

Ricciardone's letter which expressed his sadness over his media statements

Ricciardone also sent a letter to Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson for the ruling Justice and Development AKP, Huseyin Celik stating his sadness over his statements on the pace of Turkish judiciary which were misunderstood.

According to received information, afternoon, before heading to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, top US diplomat in Turkish capital sent a letter to Celik.

The letter covered Ricciardone's full speech of a few days ago.

It was added, the letter was not a letter of apology and the letter aimed to make clear the statements of Ambassador Ricciardone.

The letter covered the sadness of Ricciardone upon the negative reaction of Celik.

Turkish Parliament Speaker Cicek also reacts US Ambassador

Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek also said that US Ambassador in Ankara, Francis Ricciardone's recent statements on several court cases in Turkey were "unacceptable".

Speaking on the CNN Turk TV channel on Thursday, Cemil Cicek underlined that an ambassador's area of activity and issues to be talked on were limited.

Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reacted to Ambassador Ricciardone on behalf of Turkey and brought up the points that an ambassador had to be careful about, Cicek also said.
